Programmers when added will appear in the Current programmer drop down on the main Toolbar.  You can Add, Modify of Remove programmers through the Configure Programmer Dialog.


A number of Pre Configured Programmers are listed on the right hand side of the dialog and are taken from an .ini file distributed with the Positron Compiler.  Positron Studio retains a copy in the C:\ProgramData\Positron Studio\Programmer.ini.  You can edit this file in Positron Studio where you can add other preconfigured programmers

Installing a Programmer

To add a new programmer, click   button, enter a display name for the programmer, browse (...) to the executable file for that programmer and complete the parameter string. Refer to your programmer's data sheet for required parameters.

The parameter string can contain any printable character. To include the file-name of the hex file to be programmed enter $hex-filename$ or $long-hex-filename$ in the string. To include the target device enter $target-device$ in the string.

Apply button will update the list of Available Programmers and OK will add it to the Current Programmer drop down and save the entry in the applications .ini file and Close the dialog.

Installing a Preconfigured Programmer

If you have any of the programmers listed in the Preconfigured list you can add it into the available programmers list by clicking on the button.  You will then be asked to browse to the location of the Programmer's executable. The programmer will then be added to the available programmers list when you click Apply.  OK will close the dialog and save these settings


The Preconfigured list is copied to the  ProgramData/Positron Studio directory. This will enable you to add preconfigured programmers to the list without it being overwritten on the next install of the Positron. 

Updating a Programmer

You can modify the name, location and name and the parameter string of any Programmer in the Available Programmers list,  Select the programmer entry in the Available Programmers list, Edit the entry as necessary.  Click Apply for these changes to take place and OK to save the settings.

You can revert to the former settings by clicking Cancel or Escape before clicking OK

Uninstalling a Programmer

To Remove a programmer from the available programmers list click the button.  If this was a custom programmer the parameter settings will be lost.

Activating a Programmer

Choose the programmer to use from Positron Studio's Main Tool bar. If you wish to make it the default programmer you must make the change in this Dialog and click Update, OK to set the new default.
